Remittances
The receiving countries benefit from the flow of cheap labor into their economies. The socioeconomic cost of receiving this flow of immigrants includes crime, unemployment, and national security concerns. The largest positive economic effect of migration is the sending of remittances. Remittances are monetary and other cash transfers sent from transnational migrants to their families and communities back home. Often, more money flows back home in the form of remittances than the sending country receives in official development assistance. In rural Mexico, hundreds of communities are supported purely by the remittances of transnational labor migrants of their communities working in the United States.
